On Wednesday, fire departments battled a blaze that threatened to tear through a local residence. The Newark Volunteer Fire Department, supported by Haslet Fire Rescue (HFR), Eagle Mt, and Boyd, responded to a structure fire that began around a chimney and quickly extended to the attic. HFR reported on the incident via social media, detailing how firefighters from various departments worked in tandem to tackle the inferno.
According to the Haslet Fire Rescue Facebook post, Engine-128 arrived first at the scene and initiated an interior attack. The swift action of the fire crews contained the fire to the fireplace and attic area surrounding it. "HFR works closely with our neighboring departments and is happy to help when requested," the post read, showcasing the unified front presented by the departments in the face of emergencies.
The fire, which highlighted the roof with its flames upon the units' arrival, was a testament to the fast response and cooperation between the different fire services. Contained successfully to the attic and fireplace, the outcome could have been much worse without prompt action. However, the home wasn't spared from damage; the firefighting efforts resulted in significant water damage within the household.
