Last week, Fort Bend Houston residents witnessed a house engulfed in flames on the 7400 block of Bahia Ln. 77489, causing significant property damage but, thankfully, resulting in no physical injuries. The Houston Fire Department's report states that the fire broke out on January 29, 2025, at about 8:15 p.m. and is attributed to an unintentional cause, with unattended cooking being the culprit.
Upon their arrival at the scene, firefighters were met with flames bursting from a single-story home. Their immediate action was to launch an offensive attack against the blaze. They conducted a thorough primary search to ensure no one was inside and proceeded to ventilate the home. The experienced crews managed to extinguish the fire and confirm that there was no further risk of it spreading. According to the police report, these efforts saved an estimated $100,000 in property, while the home still suffered an estimated $150,000 in damages.
A total of 31 personnel were on the scene, including firefighters from Stations 2, 59, 68, 48, 80, and 82. Once the fire was under control, the power company was called in to secure the electricity to the home, ensuring the safety of the emergency teams and the surrounding area.
