Oklahomans taking their usual routes through downtown may need to find an alternate path this week, as the City of Oklahoma City announced a double dose of road closures that's set to disrupt traffic flows. According to a recent social media post by the City of Oklahoma City - Government, NW 10th Street from Broadway Avenue to Robinson Avenue, and again from Broadway Avenue to Oklahoma Avenue, will be inaccessible starting Wednesday, February 26, through Sunday, March 2, with detours marked for commuters.
The temporary closures might cause some inconvenience for downtown residents and visitors, as NW 10th Street is an important route connecting different parts of the city. While the city says detours will be clearly marked, construction can be unpredictable, and traffic could quickly become a gridlock as both locals and newcomers try to navigate the changes.
Businesses in the affected areas are preparing for fewer customers and the impact on their operations. Locals and visitors are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for detours and possible delays. With the downtown road closures starting, OKC residents who use these streets are advised to stay updated on traffic changes. This can be done by checking the city's Facebook page, setting up alerts on travel apps, or watching local news.
