The National Weather Service in Oklahoma City provided an update on what residents can expect from the weather over the course of the coming week. A quick look at the skies might deceive, as mostly sunny conditions prevail today with a high near 46 degrees, but changes are just over the horizon. According to the National Weather Service, tonight the skies will turn mostly cloudy, and the temperature is expected to drop down to around 30 degrees with a northeast wind of 5 to 8 mph.
As we enter into the new week, Monday morning might greet early risers with a slight chance of freezing rain before 9am, then a transition to likely rain. The high is anticipated to hover near 41 degrees. A motion, perhaps unnoticed by the busy populace, will bring the wind from northeast to east southeast in the afternoon. "Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected," reports the National Weather Service. Come nightfall, prepare for rain with certainty, as the chance of precipitation soars to 100% with a low around 32 degrees.
The weather pattern shows no signs of relenting Tuesday, as there remains a 50 percent chance of rain, mainly before noon. The day will likely stay cloudy, with a high near 36 degrees, and the north northeast wind picking up to 10 to 13 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph. Dropping temperatures will invite freezing rain post midnight, holding an 80 percent chance of making an appearance, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Wednesday's forecast continues the trend with an 80 percent chance of freezing rain, this time possibly mixed with snow, mainly before noon and with a high near 31 degrees. Giving little respite to the chill, Wednesday night is projected to be mostly cloudy with lows bottoming out around 15 degrees. But, not all is dreary, as Thursday promises a bit of sunshine, although the temperatures will remain brisk with highs near 31 degrees, as stated by the National Weather Service.
By Friday, the temperatures will begin to thaw, reaching a slightly more comfortable high near 47 degrees under partly sunny skies. The night is expected to be mostly cloudy with lows around 39 degrees, potentially setting the stage for a warmer Saturday when the high could climb up to 56 degrees, as per the National Weather Service.
