Gabby Thomas, the Olympic sprinter born in Atlanta and raised in Massachusetts, has been vocal about a disturbing situation she's been facing: a group of middle-aged men allegedly stalking her at airports across the country. In a series of TikTok videos that began surfacing last Tuesday, Thomas shared her experiences of harassment and expressed fear for her safety. She claimed that these men have been demanding she sign stacks of photos and become aggressive if she refuses. In one of her videos, Thomas stated, "What scares me is that they have my flight information even when I don't even know what time I'm flying out sometimes. I don't tell anyone my flight information," as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
This troubling phenomenon doesn't seem to be isolated to Thomas alone, as other high-profile female athletes have spoken up with similar experiences. Tennis rising star Coco Gauff and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles have both commented publicly that they too have been stalked. "no same, I'm horrified of them… happens too often. I take pictures of them just incase," Biles divulged under one of Thomas' TikToks, as detailed by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Confiding in her TikTok followers, Thomas sought advice on how to handle the situation, emphasizing her uncertainty over whether to notify police or airport security. According to Telegram.com, she said, "It's not even airline specific, but I don't know how they're getting my flight information, and it's really starting to freak me out. And honestly, I don't know who to go to about this. I don't know. Do I go to the police? Do I go to airport security? It's a multi city thing."
The ordeal took a turn when, after sharing a video of two of the suspected stalkers, Thomas received an email tip possibly identifying one individual with a history of obtaining flight information on celebrities. "So on one hand, I'm like, kind of relieved that I'm not alone in this, but on the other hand, I'm wondering, who is selling him this information?" Thomas pondered, as noted by Telegram.com. She reiterated her intent to file a police report, signaling a proactive stance against the harassment she's endured.
The names of the men suspected of being involved and the exact means by which they allegedly acquired Thomas' flight information remain unclear, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
