A fatal collision in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, has resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to another. The accident occurred yesterday afternoon on Clay Pike at Orchard Drive in Sewickley Township, where first responders arrived at the scene around 4:15 p.m. According to WPXI, 71-year-old Dean Carlson was driving north when a southbound Ford truck seemingly crossed the opposite lane and collided with his vehicle.
Carlson was pronounced dead at the location, with the coroner's office confirming the fatality. The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment, as per a release from the Westmoreland County Coroner's office reported by WTAE. An autopsy and toxicology tests have been planned to determine the precise cause and manner of death.
Sky 4, the only news helicopter in Pittsburgh, provided aerial views of the aftermath, which showed considerable damage to both vehicles. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
