
An Orange County high school teacher has faced the law following allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student. Jarvis Mcsears Ward, 26, a math teacher and assistant football coach at Lake Nona High School, was arrested by Orlando Police. According to WESH, the charges include solicitation of a minor via computer, promoting the sexual performance of a child, and two counts of an authority figure soliciting sex/conduct with a student.
Lake Nona High School's principal, Nikki Campbell, contacted parents about the incident. "An employee at our school has been arrested after allegations of inappropriate conduct were reported," Campbell stated in an email, "The Office of Professional Standards immediately began an internal investigation. I can assure you that I take all allegations very seriously." Despite the gravity of the allegations, Ward has since resigned from his position, Orange County Public Schools confirmed to WESH.
Further details on the case were provided in a statement by Orlando police. "The Orlando Police Department said a high school teacher has been arrested following allegations of inappropriate conduct with a 16-year-old student," as reported by WFTV. The police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.
