In the wake of the Eaton Fire that spurred both mandatory and voluntary evacuations, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) has stepped up to offer a helping hand to its customers. Operating within the city scarred by recent blazes, PWP has bolstered its Water Leak Assistance program, aiming to aid those beleaguered residents and business owners whose properties are caught in the aftermath of the conflagration. The recent extension in the program is designed to provide financial relief for those facing inflated water bills due to the firefighting and recovery efforts tied to the fire event.
The assistance arrives with a set of qualifications, as outlined by the official release from PWP. Customers who lay claim to properties within the Eaton Fire evacuation zones may be eligible for a bill credit maxed out at $5,000. This assistance, however, is anchored firmly to a specific window of time—the excessive water usage must have occurred on January 7 or within the 30 days that followed, concluding on February 6. Apart from the time constraint, note that the assistance is tagged as a one-time offering per metered account, with previous beneficiaries of water leak assistance still remaining eligible under the Eaton Fire's criteria.
Such financial reprieve is meted out based on urgency and need, adhering to a first-come, first-served premise until the allocated funds are depleted. Pasadena residents and business entities eager to apply are encouraged to download the application directly from the PWP website. Alternatively, engagement with the program can be facilitated through emailing [email protected], or by placing a phone call to the PWP Customer Service Call Center at (626) 744-4005. Operators will be standing by to assist from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
