
A Pflugerville police officer shot and injured a suspect during a chase involving a stolen vehicle on Friday afternoon, a situation that led to a brief foot pursuit and the recovery of a firearm with a high-capacity magazine, law enforcement officials reported.
As details unfolded, CBS Austin reported that the sequence of events began around 3:40 p.m. when officers tried to stop the stolen vehicle near E. Pflugerville Parkway and N. Railroad Ave. in the 1100 block of Lincoln Sparrow Cove, the scene quickly escalated after the vehicle collided with a patrol car and stopped, which prompted the suspect to abandon the vehicle and flee on foot.
According to a statement obtained by The Austin American-Statesman, during the chase, the suspect was observed producing a handgun and in response, one officer discharged their weapon hitting the suspect, "During the pursuit, officers observed the subject produce a handgun," was the information provided in a police statement, as the injured suspect was subsequently treated on site before being transported to the hospital, their current condition remains undisclosed.
