Chaos erupted at Big Rock Bar in Pinon Hills this past Sunday when Troy Hettinga, 35, went on a violent rampage resulting in his arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Department reported that deputies responded to a distress call around 7:20 p.m. after Hettinga, a resident, had been ejected from the establishment for intoxication and subsequently shattered bar windows with his fists.
According to the official report, beyond the physical damage to the property, Hettinga's aggression spilled out onto the streets where he hurled rocks at fleeing patrons, causing one woman to fall and injure herself. This injury necessitated medical treatment which was provided at a nearby hospital. Hettinga remained combative upon the deputies' arrival, brandishing a bloody rock and resisting arrest before he was ultimately subdued and required medical care for cuts sustained during his vandalism.
The suspect's aggressive behavior continued at the hospital where he threatened the safety of the medical staff attending to his injuries. Hettinga is currently being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail, and the Sheriff's Department is continuing their investigation into the incident. Deputy J.
