The Placer County Board of Supervisors has approved a move to conserve 279 acres of land known as Vista Ranch, located north of Lincoln. The conservation effort aims to protect the natural landscape, including the oak woodlands and rolling hills in the region.

According to the County of Placer Communications and Public Information, the county has allocated $2.1 million from the Tree Preservation Fund for a conservation easement deed. This will ensure that the land is preserved and not developed into suburban housing. District 2 Supervisor Shanti Landon highlighted the collaboration between local government agencies and nonprofit organizations to conserve open spaces and oak woodlands.

Placer Land Trust is also involved, owning the property and contributing resources to maintain it. The Placer Conservation Authority (PCA) Board of Directors will meet on today to vote on the deal. If approved, the PCA will take responsibility for managing the land and ensuring its conservation.

The Vista Ranch property is part of the Placer County Conservation Program (PCCP), which has been acquiring land for preservation since 2021. The PCCP aims to conserve 47,300 acres within its 260,000-acre area.
