The Placer County District Attorney's Office has scheduled a community meeting for February 28 at 10 a.m. to discuss the placement of Sexually Violent Predator William Stephenson. Taking place at the Placer County Community Development Agency, located at 3091 County Center Drive in Auburn, the meeting is open to the public who are encouraged to participate.

However, ahead of this meeting, there have been voiced concerns by both the District Attorney's Office and the Sheriff's Office over the lack of information provided by the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) and its contractor Liberty Healthcare. "Without adequate information in advance of the meeting, committee members are unable to prepare or provide meaningful feedback during the closed session," expressed officials, despite multiple requests for information from the housing committee members.

Additionally, DSH has identified a possible location for Stephenson's placement but has refused to disclose the specific address to the committee unless they agree to sign an extensive gag order preventing the sharing of this information with stakeholders and residents. According to a statement from the Placer County District Attorney's Office on Facebook, DSH and Liberty Healthcare are withholding this information contingent upon the committee's agreement.

Aside from the community meeting, a court hearing is set for March 3 at 11 a.m. in Department 32 to deliberate on matters from the housing meeting. In efforts to keep the community informed, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office invites residents to sign up for updates through their case portal at www.placer.ca.gov/SVP.
