A 49-year-old piano teacher from Plumstead Township has been charged with the indecent assault of four of his students, all male victims who were inappropriately massaged during their piano lessons. The charges against Timothy James Shay include four counts each of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and corruption of minors.
Shay was arraigned on these charges last Friday, and District Judge John T. Galloway has since set bail at the hefty sum of $1 million, 10 percent, as reported by Bucks County. Following the arraignment, he was taken to Bucks County Correctional Facility. The alleged offenses for which Shay is being held accountable took place more than two decades ago, signaling a concerning period during which the offenses remained unreported until now.
Middletown Township Detective John Beck, who is leading the case's investigation, has indicated that there may be additional victims that have not yet come forward. Authorities are actively seeking out others who may have been affected by Shay's actions and are encouraging them to make themselves known to law enforcement.
