The City of Plymouth has opened its doors to the Plymouth Memory Café - a monthly gathering aimed at providing a supportive community for individuals dealing with dementia, as well as their caregivers. Scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month, the Plymouth Community Center will play host to these events, according to an announcement made on the city's official website. The next gathering is set for 1-2:30 p.m. this coming Feb. 24, then on March 24, and lastly, on April 28, at 14800 34th Ave. N.

New to the city of Plymouth, the Memory Café series has been created for those in the early and mid stages of dementia to connect in a space that embraces their needs and those of their care partners. In a session obtained by the City of Plymouth's news release, "Attendees may meet with a social worker who specializes in dementia and caregiver support, as well as participate in music therapy with a teaching artist." Guests at the event can also expect to be provided with free beverages and light refreshments.

Those looking to attend these supportive gatherings have to register beforehand, with a cost of $20 per person for Plymouth residents and a slightly higher cost of $24 for non-residents. For ease, participants can opt to register for an individual event or the entire series. Prospective attendees can either call the Plymouth Parks and Recreation Department at 763-509-5200 or register online, with a convenient option included via an online button.

For additional information or inquiries, Recreation Supervisor Meghan Constantini is available to assist and can be reached at 763-509-5284, ready to provide the community with any crucial information regarding the Memory Café.
