The Plymouth Police Department has recently shared a snapshot of their weekly activities, giving the public a glimpse into the breadth of calls and incidents they respond to in their efforts to keep the community safe. According to a social media post from the department, during the week of February 9 through last Saturday, officers were actively engaged in a diverse array of situations, totaling up to 589 incidents. This included responding to 11 arrests, filing 10 criminal complaints, investigating 34 motor vehicle accidents, and conducting 56 traffic stops. The post, complete with statistics, can be found at the Plymouth Police Department's official Facebook page.
Additionally, the officers were alerted to 28 house and building alarms and had to calmly deal with 15 disturbances, underscoring the variety of scenarios they face daily. The week also saw the police department to swiftly look into 18 suspicious activities, reflecting their vigilance. In a bid to address urgent non-criminal matters, police also conducted 45 medical, mental health, and wellbeing checks, highlighting their role in community care beyond law enforcement.
Notably, the report pointed out that there were 26 accidental 911 calls and this raises concerns about the misuse of emergency services and the potential distraction from genuine emergencies. The Plymouth Police Department thanked their officers for their dedication and the community for their support in the post, ending with a cautionary message, "Stay safe, Plymouth!" They emphasize that it is collaborative efforts that contribute to maintaining the peace and security of their streets.
The department's engagement on social media also seeks to transparently share their work and to remind citizens to carefully use emergency services.
