The town of Plymouth is calling on its community to play a role in a different kind of neighborhood watch – one that's on the lookout for illegal trash dumping. In a recent post on its official Facebook page, the Plymouth Police Department has appealed to the public for help in tracking down the culprits who abandoned a sofa at the end of Prestige Way. Citing an incident that occurred on January 29th, the department has expressed its concern over the growing problem, which has seen the area become a hotspot for discarded items ranging from unwanted furniture to outdated electronics.
With the Plymouth Department of Public Works already burdened by the task of cleaning up these messes, resources that could otherwise benefit the community are being diverted to manage this environmental disrespect, the police post reflects the frustration at the ongoing issue in the past year with numerous complaints. In their social media plea, the police department acknowledged that although the available footage of the truck involved in the latest incident isn't of the best quality, even the smallest tip could prove invaluable – they're encouraging anyone who can identify the vehicle, who saw it on the day in question, or who has spotted it recently, to step forward with information.
The statement from Plymouth Police, released on February 22nd, specifically asks that anyone with information contact the Detective Division at 508-830-4218 ext 15294, or send the department a direct message.
