A tragic hit-and-run incident in Riverside has led to the arrest of 19-year-old Isaac Blackhorse Garcia, accused of striking and killing a pregnant teenager last Sunday night. According to NBC Los Angeles, the suspect, who was allegedly in a sexual relationship with the underaged victim's sister, is facing charges of murder, unlawful sex with a minor, and hit-and-run resulting in death.
Police responded to the scene in the 1500 block of Gregg Place to find the teen severely injured after being hit by a car that fled the area. The unborn child was delivered at a local hospital and remains in critical condition. Detectives apprehended Garcia, who suggested to have dropped off the victim's sister before the incident and sped away when confronted by family members, according to details from a Riverside Police Department's Facebook post.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that there might be more victims. "Our detectives believe that it’s possible that he may have done this with other minors," Officer Ryan Railsbeck stated to NBC Los Angeles. The police urged those with any knowledge to come forward by contacting detectives directly or utilizing the police department's anonymous tip system through the "Atlas 1" mobile app.
