A Rockville man is behind bars after being arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a child, and Montgomery County Police caution there may be more victims out there. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Wilmer Alvarado-Gomez, was taken into custody following an investigation by the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) of the Montgomery County Department of Police.
According to an official press release from Montgomery County authorities, the incident involving Alvarado-Gomez occurred near Parkland Drive in Rockville on Thursday, February 20. Having been accused of sending sexually explicit photos to the victim, detectives moved swiftly to obtain an arrest warrant by the following day. Along the streets near his Rockville residence, Alvarado-Gomez was arrested on Saturday, February 22, without incident.
Alvarado-Gomez faces grave charges that include second-degree rape without consent involving a child under 13, and second-degree rape concerning a child under 14 years of age.
