The predawn hours in Round Rock were disrupted by the sharp crack of gunfire as police responded to a disturbance call at the MAA Round Rock Apartments. According to FOX 7 Austin, the disturbance was reported around 4 a.m. at 1800 Plateau Vista Blvd, near North A W Grimes Boulevard, and it ended with a Round Rock Police Department officer discharging their firearm, though, mercifully, no injuries were sustained by either the officers or the suspect now in custody.
The specifics of the event remain vague, as RRPD have not disclosed what precisely sparked the disturbance call, nor have they confirmed whether the apprehended suspect was armed or not; however, protocol has been swiftly executed with the officer involved being placed on administrative leave pending a thorough investigation, a darkness of routine protocol shadowing the stark light of the discharged weapon. This incident marks the second such confrontation in Central Texas in mere days, an earlier incident resulting from an attempted traffic stop in Pflugerville also escalated to an officer-involved shooting after police claim the suspect brandished a handgun.
Meanwhile, the Round Rock Police Department has withheld the identity of the detained suspect along with additional details concerning the altercation. A brief statement released by the department and sourced by KVUE confirmed that an officer discharged their weapon at a suspect but reiterated that no injuries had been reported.
