A house fire in Sacramento County left one person hospitalized and three others without a home on Monday afternoon, according to officials from the Sacramento Metro Fire District. The incident, which occurred at a residence on Galbrath Drive near Holworthy Way in the Foothill Farms area, started from an unattended barbecue in the backyard as reported by KCRA.
Responding shortly after 5:25 p.m., emergency crews were confronted with large flames and smoke billowing from the house, one person being home at the time of the fire was taken to an area hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and it's not clear at this moment the severity of their injuries, this development comes from video footage distributed by Metro Fire. Meanwhile, Fox40 detailed that the fire on the 4400 Block of Galbrath Drive in North Highlands had firefighters on the scene around 5:40 p.m., where they found that all occupants had already exited the home; nonetheless, the same individual required medical attention and transportation to a local hospital.
Although the cause was initially unclear, Metro Fire has since identified the source as inadequate supervision of a backyard barbecue as noted by the statement KCRA obtained. The fire has not only caused injuries but also the displacement of three residents, leaving them to search for alternative living arrangements in the wake of the destruction of their homes.
Additional details about the extent of the property damage and the condition of the hospitalized individual have not been released. The investigation into the fire is ongoing, with updates expected as more information becomes available.
