A shocking revelation came from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, which declared a recent homicide on Sutterwoods Way to be a murder-suicide. The incident, which occurred on Monday, involved two adult males found dead from gunshot wounds.
According to a Facebook post by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, a friend of one of the deceased, 33-year-old Jesse Janda, requested a welfare check after Janda missed a golf meeting and hadn't been heard from for a few days. Upon the deputies' arrival, they found Janda and another man, both with fatal gunshot wounds.
In their ongoing investigation, Sheriff's Homicide Detectives gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses. They discovered two expended shell casings next to Janda who was clutching a handgun under his body. The preliminary findings from the Coroner pointed detectives to conclude that this tragedy was a result of a murder-suicide with Janda as the perpetrator. However, the underlying motive for this violent act is still under investigation.
The identity of the second victim is pending release by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office, in accordance with their protocols. The investigation remains active.
