Last night, the Sacramento Fire Department battled a fierce blaze that engulfed a vacant office building on the 1000 block of 19th St. According to a social media post from SacFirePIO, fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames tearing through the structure. Tragically, the inferno claimed the lives of two individuals and a small dog. They were discovered by firefighters conducting a secondary search of the premises.

Initial reports indicate that the building had been boarded up prior to the conflagration. The identities of the victims have not yet been released as authorities are in the process of notifying the next of kin. Firefighting teams remained at the scene throughout the night and into the morning hours, dousing hot spots and searching the wreckage for answers.
The surrounding streets were closed to traffic to provide access for emergency vehicles and to secure the area as firefighters tackled the flames. The Sacramento Fire Department has not yet provided a timeline for when the results of the investigation might become available.
