Sacramento Police made an arrest yesterday as part of their efforts to address illegal firearms in the community. According to a social media post by the Sacramento Police Department, downtown patrol officers responded to a tip about a wanted suspect at a local hotel. While the suspect had already left the scene when officers arrived, the search led to the discovery of an illegal ghost gun, drugs, and body armor.
The officers continued their follow-up the next morning and returned to the hotel, where they located the suspect. This led to the arrest and may have helped prevent a potential firearm-related incident. "Another great example of our officers’ dedication and hard work to keep the community safe and remove another illegal firearm from our streets," the Sacramento Police Department stated.
The increase of ghost guns—untraceable firearms assembled from kits or 3D printers—has become a growing concern for law enforcement nationwide. With no serial numbers, these firearms bypass conventional tracking methods.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released by the police, is now facing several charges related to the illegal possessions found in his abandoned hotel room.
