
A significant drug bust has unfolded in Salem, with local police hitting the streets to cut off a stream of narcotics. In a straightforward operation that showcases the perseverance of law enforcement agencies to staunch the flow of illicit drugs, over one kilogram of cocaine was seized from a residence at 14A Pope Street. The raid, which took place on Friday, was the result of a month-long investigation by the Salem Police Department into suspected drug sales from the location.
The Salem Police Department shared details of the bust in a Facebook post, revealing that the cocaine found was packaged for sale. Additionally, officers confiscated approximately $11,000 in cash from the scene. According to the Facebook post, "over 1 kilogram of cocaine that was packaged for sale and approximately $11,000.00 in cash."
Police arrested 31-year-old Bryan Brito of Salem in connection with the find. Brito, who purportedly was arrested without a struggle, will face charges for trafficking class B cocaine over 200 grams. This charge reflects the severity, of the drug problem that continues to challenge small and large communities alike, reminding the public of the persistent nature of the drug trade and the continuous efforts to combat it.
