As residents of Sammamish face the challenges of infrastructure development and upgrades, some relief may be in sight with the anticipated lifting of at least one Ziply Fiber construction permit after the recent suspension due to issues in the work process. According to the city's latest communications, the permit number ROW2024-03745 – predominantly covering work along 228th Ave Northeast, from Northeast 8th Street to Northeast 28th Place – could see a resumption in the following weeks.

Citizens experiencing inconvenience or disruption due to the installation of underground high-speed fiber internet lines are encouraged to voice their concerns through the MySammamish website or app. A response from the City staff is guaranteed within the request. Meanwhile, Ziply Fiber is allowed to continue with site restoration work, including landscaping and road patching, weather permitting, and continues to restore some sense of normalcy despite the ongoing changes.

Local traffic near Sammamish may also experience delays due to developments beyond its borders, as the City of Redmond begins a temporary road closure on 187th Avenue Northeast near the Sammamish city limit for a short plat development project known as The Cove, located in Redmond. The road will be closed between East Lake Sammamish Parkway Northeast and Northeast 53rd Street, with a detour along East Lake Sammamish Parkway Northeast and Redmond-Fall City Road NE (SR 202) set up to redirect traffic during the closure. The closure, which began on January 29, is expected to last for approximately eight working days, with working hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. More details can be found on the City of Redmond’s project webpage.
