In a recent push to curb illegal activities, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department launched a targeted crackdown dubbed "Operation Consequences" from February 3 through February 9, 2025. This week-long operation, as reported by the Sheriff's Department, was conducted in several locations around San Bernardino and Twentynine Palms.
The effort brought together investigators from the Gangs/Narcotics Division with patrol deputies to serve three search warrants and make contact with gang members and others barred from owning firearms. As a result of the operation, two unserialized firearms, also known as ghost guns, were seized. A quantity of suspected methamphetamine was also confiscated during the efforts.
Officials at the Sheriff’s Department point out that the operation led to 11 felony arrests, in addition to 21 misdemeanors. This initiative comes after the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors authorized additional funds for the suppression of county-wide crime. The objective behind this additional funding is to enhance the Sheriff’s Department's capacity to respond to quality-of-life issues in local communities.
"Operation Consequences" is expected to continue in the upcoming months, with a focus on reducing violent crime, disrupting targeted criminal street gangs, and making arrests involving illegal arms possession, manufacturing, and trafficking. The planned operations will include collaboration with multiple agencies, among them the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, the United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
