A suspect has been arrested in a homicide case in San Marcos, Texas. Last Friday, San Marcos police responded to a 911 call in which a man said he had "killed his wife" and "shot her" before hanging up. Officers were unable to reach the caller afterward, according to the San Marcos Police Department and FOX 26 Houston.
Officers arrived at a home on the 800 block of River Road and found the back door open. Inside, they discovered 43-year-old Victoria Valadez dead from a gunshot wound in a back bedroom. Police identified Juan Manuel Yanez, 47, as a suspect after linking him to the 911 caller through a phone number. Investigators believe Yanez and Valadez had a prior relationship, as reported by the San Marcos Police Department.
Yanez was not found at the initial location, and his vehicle was missing. Authorities tracked him to Harris County, where deputies arrested him around 8 p.m. He now faces a murder charge and is held on a $100,000 bond. The investigation remains ongoing, and the timeline for his transfer to San Marcos is unclear, as stated by the San Marcos Police Department.
