A stabbing incident at Elsie Allen High School in Santa Rosa led to a lockdown yesterday afternoon. Santa Rosa Police reported that a 15-year-old male student was detained following the altercation that left another male student with multiple stab wounds. The victim, also 15, received immediate care from school personnel before being transported to an area hospital.
The chaotic scene unfolded shortly before 3:00 pm when an altercation in a classroom escalated to violence, leaving a student with serious injuries. The suspect was apprehended by the school staff and subsequently taken into custody by arriving officers. An investigation, led by the Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team, has been initiated to uncover the motives behind the fight and the history between the boys involved. As of now, authorities do not believe the incident was gang-related.
Emergency responders quickly provided medical assistance to the injured student, who underwent surgery to repair his injuries. He is listed in stable condition and is expected to make a recovery. A black folding knife, believed to have been used in the assault, was recovered by law enforcement officers at the scene. The suspect now faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon on school grounds and is being held at Juvenile Hall.
Students were released from the school one class at a time around 3:45 pm, with an effort to reunite them with their families or to board school buses for dismissal. Santa Rosa Police and Elsie Allen High School staff worked closely to ensure the safety of all individuals involved.
