A fire started at a construction site on NW 54th St. in Seattle's Ballard/Woodland neighborhood around 6:23 a.m. Firefighters responded, and evacuations were carried out as a precaution, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a fire in a three-story building, evacuating residents from an eight-unit townhome before the structure collapsed. A 25-year-old woman received on-site treatment and did not require hospitalization, as reported by the Seattle Fire Department.
Firefighters contained both fires and prevented them from spreading to a nearby construction site. The Seattle Fire Department stated, "Crews have both fires under control and prevented it from spreading to the second building under construction." Some units remained on-site to monitor for potential reignition. The cause is under investigation. One building was destroyed, and a nearby townhome sustained fire damage.
