A Queen Anne man, 40, was arrested on Thursday after Seattle Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted a wide-ranging investigation. The probe, which investigated allegations of sexual exploitation, began when an SPD detective in the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit acted upon a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children back in 2024, according to a statement by the Seattle Police Department.
The SPD collaborated with law enforcement across various states and even internationally. This multi-state investigation was instigated by the parents of a victim who, upon examining their child's cell phone, found that their child had been sexually exploited by an individual believed to be in Seattle. Sexually explicit images and videos had been shared with the suspect. When the parents notified their local police, the information was referred to the SPD, as detailed in Seattle Police Department's blog post.
Subsequent to obtaining search warrants, SPD detectives accessed records from internet service providers, online file-sharing services, and a messaging app to pinpoint the suspect. Their examination of digital evidence unearthed sexually explicit conversations, images, and videos linked to child victims. According to the Seattle Police Department's report, there were three known victims: two adolescent girls from separate states, aged 14 and 15, and an additional 17-year-old girl from another country, one of whom had been victimized for as long as three years.
In a crafted pursuit of justice, on the morning of Thursday, Seattle Police Department's Community Response Group executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence. The operation resulted in the collection of evidence, which led to the suspect's arrest on several charges, including three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, four counts of communication with minor for immoral purposes – electronic communication, viewing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and possession of depictions of minor engaged in such conduct. The man was booked into the King County Jail, concluding a pivotal step in a harrowing case that crossed state lines and national borders.
