
Last night, a single-vehicle traffic collision was reported on eastbound US Highway 50, just east of the Broadway offramp, in El Dorado County. The El Dorado County Fire Protection District, alongside the Placerville Police Department and the California Highway Patrol, swiftly responded to the scene after the incident occurred at approximately 7:12 P.M.,on Sunday. One individual involved in the crash was taken to Marshall Hospital, details regarding their condition have yet to be released.
The accident led to a section of the highway median being damaged. This information was confirmed through a Facebook post by the El Dorado County Fire Protection District. According to the post, authorities are currently to fully investigate the cause of the incident. Traffic conditions were affected following the collision, but regular flow was soon restored after the initial response by law enforcement and emergency services.
Witnesses said the crash happened suddenly, with one describing the car losing control "out of nowhere." The California Highway Patrol (CHP) hasn’t said if speed or intoxication were factors. They are still investigating the cause of the crash and ask any witnesses to come forward with information, as per the El Dorado County Fire Protection District.
