A water main in the Pacific Palisades area ruptured in the early hours of Wednesday morning, leading to a sizable sinkhole in the region scarred by recent wildfires. The site of the incident, near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Las Casas Avenue, saw copious amounts of water flooding the area, as observed by an LAPD officer around 1:30 a.m., KTLA reports.
“A short time later, the same patrol unit reported that a sinkhole had formed due to the water main break,” KTLA stated. DWP officials have not yet provided details on the cause of the break or the size of the affected pipe.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is on-site addressing the issue., as per NBC Los Angeles.
