A police officer was injured after pursuing an alleged kidnapper in Southaven, Mississippi. The incident began with a kidnapping report yesterday morning in the Paddock Cove area and resulted in a multi-jurisdictional chase that crossed into Memphis.

The WREG report stated that the victim, who had been held at knife-point, was able to return home and receive treatment for her injuries. The pursuit began when Southaven officers spotted the suspect’s grey Dodge truck heading north on Tchulahoma Road. During the chase, an officer crashed at the intersection of Tchulahoma Road and Holmes Road, colliding with another vehicle, which led to minor injuries for the officer.

Action News 5 reported that the officer, who was taken to Baptist DeSoto Hospital, was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening and for pain.

Authorities have called for public assistance in the ongoing investigation.
