
A collision between a train and a car occurred early this morning in southeast Houston, resulting in the death of the driver. The incident took place shortly after 6:45 a.m. near Galveston Road and Dixie Farm Road. According to authorities, the driver attempted to beat the train but was struck, as mentioned by Click2Houston.
The driver, the only person in the car, was taken to the hospital after the crash. The northbound lanes of Galveston Road were closed while the scene was cleared. The road has now been reopened, as reported by the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable's Office.
According to the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable's Office on their Facebook page, "Sadly, the 26 year old driver of the passenger car did not survive the injuries he sustaineded in this collision." The office also stated, "Our prayers go out to his family as they cope with their tragic loss." The incident, involving a train and a vehicle, has raised concerns about railroad crossing safety.
