Early this morning, the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), backed by the Massachusetts State Police VFAS and the Hampden County Sheriff's Department, made a significant bust in an East Park Street apartment. At approximately 7:00 a.m., 33-year-old Artwain Davis was arrested with a considerable cache of narcotics and an illegal firearm in his possession, according to a report from the Springfield Police Department's official website.

During the raid on his residence, following an investigation that put Davis as the primary target, the detectives seized a high-capacity gun along with drugs and cash. They had previously procured a search warrant, allowing the operation to proceed. With the search warrant that was executed, a large capacity firearm was discovered resting on a bed, with Davis getting detained shortly thereafter.

The Springfield Police's report documented the seizure of 50 bags of heroin, 9 bags of crack cocaine, and a bag of powder cocaine, collectively weighing approximately 24 grams. Additionally, 144 rounds of loose ammunition and nearly $1,500 in cash were also taken from the residence.

Davis faces a slew of charges, among them Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Cocaine Trafficking 18-36 Grams. He was charged with the possession of a firearm without an FID Card, alongside other firearm-related violations. The officers also charged him for improperly storing a large capacity firearm and possession of ammunition without an FID Card, which indicates a clear breach of legal gun ownership rules. Packages of heroin accompanied Davis was next placed under arrest, the quantity of which is indicative of intent to distribute.
