In a recent crackdown to enhance neighborhood safety, St. Louis police officers apprehended a 45-year-old convicted felon after a brief car chase. As reported by the St. Louis Police Department on social media, the pursuit took place in the Patch neighborhood. Officers on patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle which then fled. The car was later found behind a residence.
The man taken into custody is not named, but has a prior criminal record. According to the post of the St. Louis, MO Police, "Yesterday, District 1 officers were patrolling the Patch neighborhood. Officers tried to stop a car, but it took off. Officers located that car in the rear of a residence." The social media update was accompanied by a photo of the seized firearm.
While the SLMPD did not disclose the specific charges the individual is facing, the fact that he is a convicted felon and was found with a gun suggests potential violations of laws prohibiting felons from possessing firearms. The SLMPD hashtagged the post with #SaferSTL, indicating the arrest aligns with the department's objective to bolster public safety.
