A tragic incident unfolded in Sun City on Wednesday morning when a house fire claimed the life of a woman and her dog. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the fire broke out near 99th and Grand avenues just before 11:30 a.m. Firefighters responded to the scene to find the residence engulfed in flames. "Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions. One victim and one dog was rescued from the house. Initially, there was confusion about the dog's fate, as the Sun City Fire and Medical Department had originally stated on social media that it was rescued. However, a spokesman confirmed that the dog was found dead at the scene.
The blaze occurred in a one-story home on Augusta Drive, which is situated south of Grand Avenue. Despite the intensity of the fire, there were no other reported injuries from the incident. While emergency crews and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office confirmed the fatality and the pet's demise, details regarding the cause of the fire remain under investigation. Furthermore, authorities have not released the identity of the woman who lost her life in the fire.
