
Trenten Asberry, 20, has been arrested in connection with a January shooting at 1251 Wilcrest Drive in Houston. The victim, Marquise Barnes, 29, was found dead from gunshot wounds in an apartment complex parking lot. The Houston Police Department did not release details about the suspect's description or motive during the initial investigation.
Asberry is facing charges of murder, assault of a peace officer, and possession of marijuana in a felony amount. The Harris County District Attorney's Office is prosecuting the case in the 248th State District Court. During his arrest, Asberry "struck an officer and discarded a backpack" while attempting to flee on foot. After a brief chase, officers captured him and found the narcotics, as reported by the Houston Police Department.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Miyako and Detective C. Bowling are investigating the January shooting. Authorities released a booking photo of suspect Asberry to gather more information. Asberry is in custody at the Harris County Jail while the investigation continues.
