Early Thursday in the upscale SouthPark neighborhood of Charlotte, a man drove his vehicle through the front of Diamonds Direct jewelry store, with the incident occurring across from SouthPark Mall around 1 a.m., WBTV reports.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Joab Warrior Ham, rammed a Chevrolet Malibu into the building, resulting in shattered glass and a disheveled storefront his bond was set at $1,000 and he was still in custody at 7:30 a.m., as per court records and he is facing charges of felony breaking and/or entering, according to the WCCB Charlotte.
Security measures immediately surrounded the area, with cones and caution tape marking the perimeter of the damaged facade, as shown by WCNC Charlotte's crew at the scene.
Ham, reportedly from Durham County, is scheduled for court Thursday afternoon where he will face these allegations the store itself has borne the brunt of an event that interrupts the ordinary tranquility of this retail haven, the car coming to an unceremonious halt amidst the remnants of its opulent entrance, as detailed by WBTV.
