Last night's capture of a suspect involved in a year-old homicide marked another step in a protracted effort to close the case of Christopher Cheeks, a California man killed outside a Nashville music studio. According to the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, TITANS Unit detectives apprehended 19-year-old Amir Carroll, linking him to the fatal shooting that occurred in April 2024.
Operating on 11 grand jury indictments, Carroll was arrested on charges that encompass first-degree premeditated murder, especially aggravated robbery, and felony weapon possession, among others. A known associate of the still-at-large suspect Adrian Cameron Jr., Carroll was reportedly at the scene with Cameron during the incident, which resulted in Cheeks' death and injured his 29-year-old friend. Accused by the grand jury, Carroll was found last night and remains jailed on a $250,000 bond.
Meanwhile, the hunt continues for Adrian Cameron Jr., now 20, who faces his own set of 12 grand jury indictments related to Cheeks' murder. Out on bond for a separate 2021 killing at the time of Cheeks' death, Cameron Jr. has been evading capture since last April.
The Nashville police are calling on anyone who might possess knowledge about Cameron Jr.'s whereabouts or can identify additional suspects in this ongoing investigation. Echoing last year’s incident that led to Cheeks’s demise, individuals with pertinent information are encouraged to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Incentivizing cooperative efforts, informants could qualify for a reward of up to $5,000 and are assured the option to remain anonymous in homicide cases.
