
Washington D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed the arrest of an individual connected to a brazen daylight armed robbery and assault in Southeast D.C. The incident, which took place on January 27, reportedly began inside an apartment complex located at the 2600 block of Douglass Road, Southeast. Authorities said that the suspect violently approached a juvenile male, initiating an assault and then later, after leaving the complex, committed an armed robbery against a second juvenile male by brandishing a firearm and forcibly taking their possessions.
The subsequent investigation led detectives to swiftly apprehend 18-year-old James Gross from Southeast. According to a press release by the MPD, the arrest took place on Thursday, under a D.C. Superior Court search and arrest warrant. During the arrest, officers recovered a black handgun that had reportedly been stolen from Virginia. The MPD has charged Gross with Armed Robbery and Simple Assault
While the investigation continues, the MPD has urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
