A man was taken into custody after reportedly stabbing another man multiple times near a gas station in Redford Township, authorities say. The Redford Township Police Department reported that the victim sought help at a Marathon gas station on Plymouth Road around 6:40 p.m. last Friday after being attacked in an adjacent parking lot, as per The Detroit News.
Following a call to 911, police arrived at the scene and discovered the victim had suffered multiple lacerations and "severe blood loss." Officers learned that the victim was stabbed by an acquaintance, according to the authorities. Transported to a nearby hospital, the victim underwent surgery and, as of last Friday night, was expected to survive.
In a post on their official Facebook page, the Redford Township Police Department credited the swift arrest of the suspect to the cooperation of a witness at the scene, saying, "RTPD officers did an outstanding job to quickly locate and arrest this violent suspect without any additional incident!" They continued to extend their well wishes, "We are wishing the victim a speedy recovery."
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, is being held in custody pending arraignment. Police have not yet provided details on the charges to be filed. Pieces of evidence related to the crime were found at the scene, said the officials. Detective Sergeant Adam Kubrak of the Redford Township Police is heading the investigation and anyone with additional information is urged to contact him at 313-387-2574 or via email at [email protected].
