A vehicle pursuit in South Sacramento ended with the arrest of a man after a collaborative effort by local law enforcement. On Tuesday night, deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Central Division joined forces with the Sacramento Police Department during a traffic stop that quickly escalated into a chase, as reported on the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office social media page.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Latenette Gaston from Long Beach, informed officers that he was on probation. When instructed to exit his vehicle, Gaston put the car in drive and fled the scene. Elk Grove Police Department joined the chase, equipping officers with Stop Sticks that successfully punctured two of the vehicle's tires. Despite these measures, Gaston continued to evade the police until deputies managed to execute the Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) to immobilize the car.

Refusing to comply with further commands to surrender, the suspect opted for a foot pursuit which ended shortly after Sheriff’s K9 Dave apprehended him. The subsequent vehicle records check revealed the car had been reported stolen. Gaston was taken into custody and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail with his bail set at $50,000. He awaits a court appearance tomorrow, as detailed by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
