After nearly a year on the run, John Booth, 47, was arrested in Houston by U.S. Marshals on charges of aggravated murder related to the death of Tosha Williams, 45, in Cleveland. As reported by KHOU, Williams was found dead by her 9-year-old child from a gunshot wound to the neck.
The U.S. Marshals described the crime as a tragic loss, leaving a child without a mother. "Sadly, the senseless incident this fugitive is being accused of left a child without a mother," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott in a KHOU report. "Hopefully, the arrest today will bring her one step closer to receiving justice for her mother’s death."
Booth fled after the murder and had been evading capture until Deputy Marshals located him in Houston, according to FOX 8. Williams was found on March 13, 2024, at her home on Prosser Avenue. The exact relationship between Booth and Williams, as well as the motive, has not been disclosed. The U.S. Marshals and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force were instrumental in his arrest.
The U.S. Marshals are encouraging anyone with information about fugitives to come forward. Those with information are asked to contact their task force at 1-866-4WANTED (1-866-492-6833).
