Residents and commuters in Tacoma should take note of the upcoming street closures announced by the city's officials. The areas affected are part of a crucial maintenance work schedule for the Residential Street Restoration Program. This initiative, focused on infrastructure upkeep, will inevitably create temporary inconveniences as commuting patterns are disrupted.
For those who regularly traverse South 80th Street, the span between South Hosmer Street and South Alaska Street will be off-limits from March 6 to March 14, every day from 8 AM to 5 PM, according to the City of Tacoma. Likewise, from March 17 through the 21st, plan to avoid South 82nd Street, which will also be closed between the same cross streets during the same hours.
Completing the scheduled closures, South Ainsworth Avenue sees its shutdown from South 81st Street to South 86th Street, commencing March 24 and culminating on April 4, following similar daily operational hours. The city reminds locals that this work is subject to the whims of weather, and such plans could face alterations accordingly.
