The City of Tacoma was shaken by multiple instances of gun violence in February, including the tragic death of a teenager and another shooting incident that left a man wounded and a woman under arrest for assault. An 18-year-old was fatally shot at the Housing Hilltop South apartment complex, marking the city's fifth homicide of the month, as reported by KING 5. The incident took place in the Hilltop neighborhood last Saturday around 9 p.m., less than a year after the Tacoma Housing Authority had opened the complex.
Despite efforts by emergency crews, the teen was pronounced dead at the scene, and the search for the shooter continues without any arrests thus far. The Tacoma Police Department has not yet released information on a suspect or motive. In a related incident, there were unconfirmed reports of a shooting near an apartment complex office, with KOMO News attempting to reach out to Tacoma police for further confirmation and details.
In another act of violence in Tacoma, a man was seriously injured at a different apartment complex. He was transported to a hospital following the overnight shooting. Through the immediate response of the authorities, one woman was apprehended and arrested for first-degree domestic violence assault, connected to the incident, as per a report by KIRO 7. The Tacoma Police Department continues to investigate, seeking answers and justice as the community struggles with the pain of these losses.
