Early risers in Tacoma might have noticed the quiet that comes with a sudden road closure. Marine View Drive is currently closed due to a landslide that has necessitated a redirection of morning commutes. According to the City of Tacoma, the thoroughfare is shut to northbound traffic at the intersection of East 11th Street and Marine View Drive and to southbound traffic at Slayden Road NE and Marine View Drive. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes.
Reportedly, city crews were dispatched and began their work at 7:30 AM. Marine View Drive will reopen once the work is complete, but no timeline has been given. The landslide has not only damaged the road but also disrupted daily life in Tacoma’s coastal area.
