
In a tragic incident in the Bronx, a bike ride ended in calamity when a teenage boy lost his life while another teen was injured after a collision with a minivan. According to ABC7NY, the police reported that the accident took place at the intersection of Metcalf Avenue & East 172nd Street in the Soundview area. The victims, a 14-year-old girl and an 18-year-old male, were riding on a bike when they were struck by a Honda Odyssey. Both teens were swiftly transported to NYC Health + Hospitals Jacobi, where the male teen was pronounced dead.
The 42-year-old driver of the Honda Odyssey remained at the scene following the collision and has not been arrested as the investigation unfolds. Furthermore, The New York Post added that the accident occurred around 6:45 p.m., with the motorbike traveling east on East 172nd Street before colliding with the minivan. The impact of the crash was severe enough to leave a large crack in the windshield of the minivan and resulted in the bike lying on the side of the road.
The condition of the 14-year-old female, who was rushed to the same hospital as the deceased teen, has been reported as stable. The police have not released any additional details about the driver or any contributing factors to the accident. The identity of the deceased has not been made public, with officials awaiting the opportunity to notify the family first before releasing further information.
