
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has appointed Austin Kinghorn as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation, Ryan Walters as Deputy Attorney General for Legal Strategy, and Billy Cole as Principal Deputy Solicitor General. Paxton praised them, saying, "They have helped deliver victory after victory for Texas and I am confident they will continue serving the people of Texas with excellence in the new roles," according to the Attorney General of Texas.
"Austin Kinghorn, Ryan Walters, and Billy Cole have been indispensable members of my team for years and have spearheaded many of our important litigation matters," Paxton said. Kinghorn, after six years at the Attorney General’s office, has been promoted. He previously served as Deputy Attorney General for Legal Strategy and General Counsel, and worked as a staff attorney for two Texas Supreme Court justices and a commercial litigator in Houston, as reported by the Attorney General of Texas.
Ryan Walters has been appointed Deputy Attorney General for Legal Strategy after working in the Special Litigation Division, where he led challenges against federal policies. He previously worked at the Texas Public Policy Foundation and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Billy Cole has been named Principal Deputy Solicitor General after serving in the Solicitor General Division. He previously worked at a law firm and clerked for Judge Edith H. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, as stated by the Attorney General of Texas.
