Almost a year following a fatal shooting in Fredericksburg, Texas, an unexpected turn of events has pushed the case back into the spotlight, with Amy Lejeune now facing murder charges for the death of Lance Reid, as per the City of Sunrise Beach report.
In March of 2024, Lejeune claimed she was drugged and kidnapped by Reid during a weekend trip near a local winery, this statement prompted her to contact police alleging the distress and resulted in Reid's shooting death, a situation Lejeune described as self-defense while authorities initially decided not to press charges, it wasn't until a grand jury's decision in October that turned the tables, indicting Lejeune for murder. According to the KVUE report, the fatal incident happened after Lejeune and Reid, who were from Montgomery County, had recently met and decided to spend the weekend together in Fredericksburg.
Barry Reid, the victim's father, has expressed disbelief at the accusations leveled against his son, in a statement obtained by City of Sunrise Beach, he said, "Disbelief. Lance would never do anything like that," adding, "He was not a violent person. Very sociable. He certainly wouldn’t have to kidnap someone. That would be ridiculous." Reid also voiced his support for the legal process, in the hopes of justice for his son. He told the City of Sunrise Beach, "I think it’s justified,” and that he will rely on the judgment that comes from the courts since his son lived an "exemplary life.
Lance Reid, had left his footprint in many places before the unfortunate incident, originally hailing from California, Reid spent time in Round Rock and then moved to the Houston area, where he was a contributing member to a NASA moon project, a passion his father described saying, "He loved his work, advanced, and had been steady at it," a testament to his dedication and the gap left by his departure. While Lejeune was indicted and taken into custody with her bond set at $100,000, she was released after her October booking, the proceedings in the court carry on, with many eyes on the outcome that looms over the families involved, in search of clarity and closure in a case wrapped in contention and grief.
